The Big Storm, Halloween and Katherine's Visit!

This week went incredibly quickly, as usual. On Monday there was a huge storm - reportedly with winds of up to 90mph. Alice and I went to yoga on Monday night and it was insane outside. It almost seemed like there was an apocalypse - there were hardly any people outside and everything was a bit gray.
How you know there's a storm in Lund...

A gigantic tree branch had fallen right near the gym

Barely made it to yoga!

Leaving yoga...we thought we were going to die

Tuesday night, Linde and I went to the difficult gym class again (along with Renate). It was still super hard, but it actually seemed a bit easier than it had before! We even stayed and did the warm-up for the next gympastång class (a couple laps of walking and running) because we still had some energy left. Our new goal is to do 20 real pushups in two weeks! (who knows if that will actually really happen) Afterwards, we made dinner together and just sat and talked for awhile. I'll really miss nights like this when I leave Sweden.

On Wednesday night, Katherine arrived from Milan! Her flight got in at ten and I figured she'd get to the train station around 11. Unfortunately there were a lot of problems with the trains, so she ended up having to take a bus which didn't actually leave until midnight. Then she somehow got off the bus at Malmö Central Station instead of Lund (close...) so Regina and I were running around Lund Central Station at 1am looking for Katherine (in the meantime my phone died). Finally we went back home to charge my phone and realized what had happened and Kat took a taxi the rest of the way to Lund. On the bright side, she eventually made it to Lund!

Fika with Regina. Apparently the picture behind us was very distracting...

Thursday night was Halloween! Early on in the night, little Swedish trick or treaters came to the door. It was the most adorable thing ever. Their parents said it was a good way for them to practice English.

Linde, Cathelijne (Linde's friend from home), Lisa (Linde's sister), Alice, Regina, Kat and I all dressed up as rockstars (destroying our hair in the process). Kate dressed up as a teacup (adorable) and Lucia dressed up as Francesco (hilarious). Everyone else ended up just having fake blood on them somewhere. About a million pictures were taken, so I'm just including some of the more entertaining ones.

Someone made food, as always.

We intended to have a little preparty on the top floor of Spoletorp, then head out to one of the nations.Everyone ended up having so much fun (not even drinking very much, just having a dance party in Simon's room - aka Simon Nation), that we never actually ended up leaving Spoletorp.

I showed Katherine around Lund during the day on Friday, then at night we went to Hallands Nation for their Halloween-themed club. We had a great time, despite losing everyone that we had come with! Katherine said she was very proud of me for learning to enjoy dancing since I've been in Sweden.

On Saturday morning, we went to a flea market in Malmö. It was insanely huge and all of the stands had really high quality things! Everyone ended up getting at least one thing - I left with a skirt, a dress and a book for my brother, all for about 70 krona (around $10). Kat got a hilarious shirt with a US flag on the back and a really nice sweater. Afterwards, we went to the mall to get food. I only took one picture, but it was the most insane mall I've ever seen. Everything was different colored and it all looked really futuristic. I also ate the first burger I've had since leaving the US.

Saturday night, Katherine and I made homemade mashed potatoes (delicious) and chicken nuggets. We also ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's between us...haha. Regina, Alice, Kat and I all talked about going out, or at least watching a movie, but we ended up just sitting at the dinner table and talking for about three hours, then going to bed.

Dinner Selfie!

In other news, last night I turned in my very first graded assignment since coming to Lund - a 10 page paper for my Swedish Film class. It's a bit crazy that some people abroad are finishing up finals and we're still in the middle of our semester. I'm a little bit glad though, because I'm really not ready to return to Denver yet and leave everyone here. I have a lot of traveling coming up and it's going to be weird just to be away from Spoletorp for so many weekends.

Next weekend I am off to Switzerland!
